Sometimes, one of the hardest steps in selling a property is packing up the things that make the house a home. The first thing we ask homeowners to put away are family photos, certificates and decor that identifies who you are. Here are a few reasons why we do this:
1. Your safety & confidentiality — from listing photos to potential buyers viewing the property, no one needs to know who you are, how many kids you have or what your occupation is.
2. Distractions — it can be very hard for a potential buyer to imagine themselves living in your property with pictures of the current owners everywhere! As well, sometimes gallery walls can draw attention away from the selling features of the property, like a gorgeous fireplace or huge windows.
3. Emotions — You never know what people are dealing with and photos can be triggering for some. For example: seeing wedding photos everywhere when a buyer has recently experienced loss of their spouse or a separation.
